announcing the arrival of AirText:
the new portable travel PA launching 5th may 2004
12th April 2004

UK travellers currently experience the second highest number of delayed departing flights in Europe. So with millions of us jetting off to warmer climes this summer, the arrival of AirText could not be better timed.

The AirText flight tracker system delivers flight status updates direct to your mobile phone as text messages. AirText is the first centralised provider of this service in the UK and features more airports than either Teletext or Ceefax. Whether you are catching or meeting a flight, the AirText tracker sends out regular bulletins on its location - regardless of yours - and even provides information as specific as check-in desk and gate number. AirText also offers a fast, free online look-up service intended to replace traditionally slower and more costly alternatives such as airport premium-rate lines and TV-based information pages.

The AirText flight tracker benefits both the individual traveller and businesses reliant upon accurate mobile flight status information, from travel agents to taxi firms. The b2b aspect of AirText also allows organisations to create an additional source of revenue through integration with their own systems.

"Our aim was to produce a quick and easy traveller-friendly service to streamline the air travel process," says Guy Cotton, the system creator. "AirText is designed for people who hate waiting around at the airport, spending unnecessarily on overpriced refreshments and extortionate parking fees. It is also perfect for the business traveller on a tight schedule."

When you subscribe for both arrivals and departure information, AirText also sends your arrivals updates - free of charge - to any other UK mobile: ideal if someone is coming to pick you up. The possibilities are endless. You can let partners or colleagues know you're going to be late without having to make expensive calls from abroad. You could use the service to let you know exactly when your parents are due to arrive home, or if you are an anxious traveller, AirText doubles as an alarm call.

AirText will soon be available through your travel agent, but from Wednesday 5th of May, you can access the service at www.airtext.co.uk.
